Three Cumberland County schools have earned recognition as Reward Progress Schools for 2017, the Tennessee Department of Education recently announced.

“These schools represent what is possible for students in Tennessee as they exemplify excellence in performance or progress and, in some cases, both,” Commissioner Candice McQueen said. “We want to replicate this success across the state and continue to celebrate the hard work of our educators and students.

Reward schools include the top five percent of schools across the state in academic achievement or growth. Brown Elementary, Pine View Elementary and South Cumberland Elementary all scored among the top five percent in the state for student growth. They are among 85 schools across the state recognized for progress.

There were 59 schools recognized for academic performance and 25 schools earning accolades in both achievement and growth.
